Chelsea boss Sonia Bompastor mentioned her gamers “don’t deserve that stage of refereeing” after Arsenal’s Katie McCabe averted a pink card for pulling Alyssa Thompson’s hair throughout their Champions League quarter-final exit.
The Blues have been chasing a late leveller after scoring a stoppage-time purpose to make it 3-2 on combination when McCabe reached out and tugged Thompson’s hair.
The American winger was breaking ahead, however McCabe escaped a yellow card and the video assistant referee (VAR) didn’t advise referee Frida Mia Klarlund to overview the incident.
Bompastor was proven a yellow card for angrily protesting in opposition to the choice after which despatched off for her continued outburst – though she refused to go away the touchline as Arsenal held on to succeed in the semi-finals.
The Frenchwoman arrived ready together with her cell phone so she may present a replay of the incident as she gave a livid interview to BBC Two.
“For me, it’s clearly a pink card for the Arsenal participant. She’s pulling Alyssa Thompson’s hair,” Bompastor mentioned.
“If the VAR will not be in a position to examine that state of affairs, I do not know why we now have the VAR.
“I am the one getting a pink card after I assume the Arsenal participant must be the one getting a pink card.”
